I think so she's never had a serious boyfriend and lets face it what a good storyline it would be. Perhaps a one-night stand between Lauren and Lucy? and then get Hannah off Hollyoaks to play her lesbian lover? Maybe do a few late night specials?
What are your views on matriarchal figures been killed off (i.e. Pat and Peggy)?
So we all know that the both of them are dead, but which one died first? Did Gavin die first and leave Kathy a widow (for 5 seconds) or did Kathy die first and leave Gavin a widower (for 5 seconds).
I'm wondering. Has he ever been on screen? I can't remember ever seeing him :|
Does anyone remember in the 22 September 2009 episode, Peggy said to Sam something like "Oh I remember when you won Miss Queen Vic in 1992. I did your hair."
Erm yeah, Peggy wasn't even in EastEnders in 1992... The mistake tonight with Pat and Pancake Day just reminded me of that.
Ann Mitchell is fabulous as Cora and following the departures of Peggy and Pat I see Cora being the next matriarch. Cora has been built up slowly as a regular cast member and I hope we get to see more of her this year. I am looking forward to her storylines with Tanya and possibly finding out about Roxy and Max.
I hope Rainie returns this year too.
I can also see Cora forming a strong friendship with Sharon on her return and possibly working at the Vic.
This isn't meant at all in a bad way, but June Brown is 85 later in the year. We have to be frank, she won't be around forever. Would it be better to give her a memorable exit storyline rather than having her die off-screen?
So as you know, EastEnders turned 27 back on Friday, so I thought it'd be great to hear what your best and worst things have been since EastEnders burst onto our screens back in 1985? I was inspired by something in the DS Forums, but I thought I'd do something similar and different here.

Standout moments over the 27 years?
Really looking forward to what you've said!
time for the axe, what purpose do they serve? Syed is a useless character, literally all we know about him is that he's a gay muslim. He has no friends, no enemies, no purpose. Meanwhile John P just plays himself as Christian.
Axe both, have them run off to the sunset, they won't be missed.
So it appears Yusef has left everything to Zainab. She feels the money is cursed, whil Masood wants to spend it. Personally I would hope she would give a fair chunk to Afia and Tamwar. Pay off her own debts, some to the Foxes and the rest to charity.
Do people rate these two together, As im finding them rather sweet. It's great to have Anthony away from Tyler and a storyline on his own he's defiently better, I think Amira was using Anthony in the beginning but now she's developing feelings for him. Im rooting for the pair.
Okay first of all sorry to those that like "Den" and think "Den ***s Jan" are great togrther but I must DISAGREE The way "Den" treated Angie was disgraceful just so he could get into Mistress Jan's bed! It makes me so very annoyed everytime Mistress Jan calls Bastard Den on that telephone newsflash honey: DEN HAS A FAMILY SO BUGGER OFF AND LEAVE HIM ALONE! and 1986 is MUCH worse when Mistress Jan frequents The Vic! "Den" needs to realize he has a wife and daughter who love him and not jump into bed with "Jan"!
Sey, kateB and Tigerlili have kindly given me mine. Having a toss over a picture of McFaddon etc.
YOU UTTER BASTARDS I will not sleep or eat for a month!
What's your worst Eastender's nightmare?
Do you think there are some archetypes/ stereotypes that are over-used?
EastEnders bad boy Jamie Foreman has opened up about his own villainous past, revealing he once came close to shooting a man dead.
This is Derek to a T. Everyone's pal, then he flips.
Most of the forum agree that Whitney Dean is being pushed to front and centre by TPTB, and that we're supposed to be on her side. But what of Phil? Has there ever been a character like Teflon Phil Mitchell, who gets away with so much? Armed robbery? Actually found on the premises with a gun? No problem to Phil, he has a good brief. Lose all your money because your sister's an airhead? Not really, you've still got a few hundred grand stashed away that nobody ever knew about. Hooked on crack cocaine? Forget rehab, Teflon Phil can cure himself in a week or two. Alcoholic? Phil can live in a pub and not even be tempted. Treat everyone like shit? That's OK, they still love and respect you. And, when necessary, they fear you too.
I'm all for characters growing and changing over the years, but the wise and often gentle soul that was the original Phil was just so much better than this caveman who struts around the square like he owns it. Original Phil was hard, but he never treated people like this one does. Original Phil was the one who reined in Grant during some of his worst excesses.
Yet we're supposed to like this Phil. We, like Shirley, are supposed to be on his side, no matter what. If the "epic" Battle of the Alphas between Phil and Derek ever comes to pass, you can bet we'll be lead by the nose to get behind Phil.
Anyone notice they never have scenes together?
They may have been in the same scene, very occasionly but shared little or no dialogue.
Now you may be saying to yourselves, what is the significance of them two characters not having scenes? Well, I say this becuase Janine has had some sort of interaction/storyline with everyone apart from Tanya. She really does get about. Everyone says character intergration has improved under Kirkwood but Janine has always mixed well with the other characters, even under Santer's reign. I have done my research and I can tell you that Janine has literally had a fair amount of scenes with all the characters, excluding obviously the very new characters.
The only other two characters I can't seem to find Janine with are Tamwar and Masood, although Masood spoke to Janine several times on the phone when he was doing taxi shifts for her.
Tanya and Janine were together when Amira and the latter were competing for a job at Bootys but you could barely call it interaction.
They also shared one last year where Janine didn't pay for her treatments, complaining to Tanya they weren't good enough and Tanya just said sorry and that was it! Janine didn't pay in the end and Tanya did nothing about it. They then appeared in one final scene where Greg was showing Janine around Number 27 and Tanya returned home but did not speak. Janine may have said hello to Tanya but it wasn't reciprocated. What I'm saying is they have barely been in the same scene and whe they are very rarely together they don't talk. They may talk at one another a little but the other doesn't reply. Go and see for yourself if you don't believe me. All of it is on youtube.
I would love to see them in a scene as you can probably guess from my username, Tanya and Janine are my favourite characters!
Firstly, if it involves a love triangle invoving Y-Shape or the Moon brother's am going to section myself (but not even TPTB would be this stupid, would they)?
Secondly Janine must, at all cost's, keep her fortune. She has evolved into a fantastic multi-dimensional character, I don't
want her on the street's again living from hand to mouth. For example if the writer's have Phil somehow con Janine out of her money I will boot the fucking telly in.
Thirdly, whatever happen's she and Michael should stick together. Her jilting him on the altar because she could not cope with the responsibilities of a family would be such a cliche. I really believe Michael loves her in his own damaged fashion, they are wonderfull together. Almost everytime they appear they are among that episodes highlights. They really light up the screen and (dare I say it) could become the best couple since Pat and Frank.
I don't have any concrete ideas myself as to how she should leave yet.
What do other member's think?
Although I love Whitney, I do agree that she hasn't been written quite as well as she used to be recently. I think that we have all seen Shona pull off some fantastic performances during her time on the show, and the potential to become a actress as good as Lacey Turner was definately is there.
I really liked Chloe and think that Georgia played her very well in the brief scene she featured in. I would love to see her move to walford and, with Lucy back to being Lauren's best friend, I think Chloe and Whitney could develop a special friendship. I think two strong teenage female friendships on the square wouldn't be a problem, because Lucy and Lauren have more of a schoolgirl friendship, whereas Chloe and Whitney could bond over their understanding of what has happened to them.
What do you think?
I remember reading (but can't remember where) that Janine agrees to forget charging Bianca for two months rent. I still haven't seen this scene - was it cut?
